There are still a few months to go before The Simpsons returns to television but FOX has already announced a release date for Season 31. Continue reading for more details.

As most of us assumed, The Simpsons aren’t going anywhere. The hit animated series has been around for thirty years and will return for its’ thirty-first season this September. Fox/Disney recently announced that the next season would begin airing on September 29, 2019.

The other interesting tidbit about The Simpsons Season 31 is it’ll be the first to debut following Disney’s merger with Fox. This is particularly important considering all thirty seasons will begin streaming exclusively on the Disney Plus streaming service rather soon.

What’s unclear is whether or not new episodes are going to be on Hulu. The streaming service currently only hosts Season 30 but it’s become a subject of much discussion as fans are wondering whether or not future episodes will follow suit. We can’t say for certain, though the initial reports which confirmed The Simpsons’ move from FX Networks to Disney Plus didn’t mention what would happen to Season 31.

While we don’t know exactly what’ll happen with Hulu’s deal to stream new episodes, they’ll more than likely be moved over to Disney Plus. But on the other hand, it’s possible Disney’s exclusive streaming service will be used mainly to host a “past” catalog of episodes while Hulu continues to stream current ones.

Whatever the case may be, fans hoping to stay up-to-date on the latest episodes of The Simpsons are going to have some choice words for Disney if the multi-media company decides to ax the animated series from Hulu. All we can do is hope that Fox/Disney worked out a deal so Hulu can keep streaming new episodes.
