Before McG made Rim of the World for Netflix, he created the horror comedy, The Babysitter. It received relatively positive reviews from critics and viewers shortly after its debut ahead of Halloween 2017. The movie has comedic elements but it still features enough core to consider it a slasher.

The Babysitter follows a young boy named Cole (Judah) who tends to get picked on. His older teenage babysitter, Bee (Weaving), often stands up for Cole and the two share a strong bond. One night when Cole’s parents are away for the night, Bee comes over for a normal babysitting gig. Everything goes normal until Cole realizes that Bee is a member of a satanic cult. The boy must fight for his life as the cult members target him. He eventually finds help in his neighbor Melanie, who doesn’t hesitate to join the fight.

The movie was a long time in the making as it first went into development in 2014. It was filmed in 2015 but the movie wasn’t released for another two years. By the time The Babysitter was released on Netflix, much of the cast became popular through other roles.
