Always Be My Maybe is one of the most talked about Netflix films so far this year. The rom-com has been receiving rave reviews for its cast and method storytelling. Not only does it star Ali Wong and Randall Park, but they also helped write the script for the movie. It notably serves as Nahnatchka Khan’s directorial debut.

The film centers on a pair of childhood friends that reconnect after 16 years in San Francisco.  Sasha (Wong), a celebrity chef, returns to the city to open a new restaurant whereas Marcus (Park), never left. He still lives in his childhood home and works with his father repairing air conditioners. The old friends find that their old romantic feelings for one another has never gone away but certain aspects of their lives keep getting in the way.

Actor Keanu Reeves has a hilarious role in Always Be My Maybe which should be enough of a reason to give it a watch. He plays a version of himself in the movie, becoming the ultimate scene stealer. The movie isn’t just all laughs, however, it shares the importance of family and why you should never be ashamed of your heritage.
