2. Will talks to Joyce

Episode: “Chapter Four: Will the Wise” (Season 2)

I’m going to be honest, this moment really got to me and I just wanted to jump in and comfort Will along with Joyce. Joyce shares with Will at the dinner table that she noticed the same “shape” on the video camera from Halloween in Will’s drawing.

Will tells his mom that it’s more of a “feeling” that’s hard to describe. He tells her that he tried to stop it and make the creature leave him along, but that it got him. With tears in their eyes, Will tells Joyce that he “just wants it to be over” and Joyce makes a promise she will fix everything that is hurting him.

There’s not much action in this scene, but it’s an emotional and touching intimate mother and son moment that I think Will really needed to have. After all, with everything Joyce went through and did for Will in season 1, who wouldn’t trust her?

Imagine thinking your child is fine and then learning that they’re reliving everything they went through every single day? I think this is one of Noah Schnapp’s best pure acting moments in the whole show.

There could be action all day, but a simple mother and son conversation can make your heart feel the same way if done well. That was definitely accomplished here.
