Julie Andrews is lending her voice to a new series from Shondaland based on the bestselling novels about the Bridgerton family. Here are all the details.

While it’s not the Princess Diaries 3 update we’ve all been waiting for, it’s so great to hear that Julie Andrews is going to star in a new show for Netflix. Shondaland is producing the currently untitled show based on the best-selling Bridgerton book series by Julia Quinn.

According to Deadline, Andrews will voice Lady Whistledown, the gossip writer who no one knows the real identity of. She uses her sharp tongue and witty commentary to talk about everyone in high society during the 1813 London season, via Deadline.

While it’s unfortunate we won’t get to see Julie Andrews on screen, who has a better voice than her? And it’ll be interesting to hear her give scathing critiques of the other characters.

This series is not an animated series. It’s live-action, but Andrews will basically be narrating the story as Lady Whistledown.

According to the report, the series is set to be eight hour-long episodes and will be coming to Netflix sometime in 2020.

The show was created by Scandal alum Chris Van Dusen and follows the eight siblings of the Bridgerton family who are looking for love and adventure in equal parts.  With eight different novels each following one of the eight siblings, we may get to see a novel per episode.

The siblings include  Anthony, Benedict, Colin, Daphne, Eloise, Francesca, Gregory, and Hyacinth. Daphne is the main character in book 1 so it’s likely we’ll meet her first. Although, since not much has been revealed about the show, we’ll have to wait and see.

Stay tuned for more news about this series and its release date on Netflix. There are also more Shondaland projects in the works at Netflix after the streaming service inked Shonda Rhimes to a major deal a year ago.
