According to Gaten Matarazzo, Finn Wolfhard, and Noah Schnapp, Stranger Things will probably continue for one or two more seasons after Stranger Things 3.

Stranger Things will end after one or two more seasons if the Stranger Things stars are right, according to a report from Entertainment Tonight.

While walking the red carpet at the 2019 MTV Awards, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, and Noah Schnapp were asked about the future of the series and how long they want the series to continue.

Of course, the trio isn’t going to be spoiling anything because they’re not allowed to. But, they did share what they think about the future of the show and how many more seasons they have left. They, together, seemed to think the show will last for one or two more seasons.

It should be noted these are the stars of the series, but they don’t have any pull in making these larger business decisions. That’s between Netflix, the Duffer Brothers and the rest of the producers.

In response to the question, Wolfhard added this, via ET Online:

"“I think we only need one more to like, tie it all up. Either one or two more. At least one more to tie it all up.”"

His comment came after Matarazzo shared his feelings on how long the story and series should continue. Basically, Matarazzo echoed what people, including those involved with the series, have been saying all along. They want the show to last as long as it’s supposed to without bringing it back just to bring it back.

"“I think we should stop whenever the story feels like it needs to be completed,” he offered. “I don’t think any story should be pushed. If there’s no more story, there’s no more story.”"

Wolfhard also added that the Duffer Brothers have not talked to them specifically about the future of the series or how many seasons are on the way. So, there’s still a chance, I guess, that this series could continue on past season 5, but so far, we haven’t heard anyone associated with the show talking about season 6 yet.

Here is what Wolfhard said, via ET Online:

"“Sometimes we’re like,’ It would be cool to have five seasons, and they’re like, ‘We’re not telling you anything,'” Wolfhard shared."

These comments are in line with everything we’ve heard about the future of Stranger Things over the last few years. What it all comes down to is that this show lasts as long as the story, and then they end it. That’s the best-case scenario, and luckily, I think all parties involved want that to happen.

Everything Netflix has been doing lately suggests they want their shows to be shorter and more binge-watchable. Stranger Things ending after four or five seasons checks those boxes.

Ultimately, this series will probably end after season 4 or season 5. I’m really hoping for a fifth season because I love this show, but I wouldn’t be surprised is season 4 is the final season. There are so many things at play here, and the cast is getting older. On top of that, how much more torture do we want these characters to endure?

For now, it sounds like season 4 will happen at Netflix. We still haven’t heard anything official about the next season yet. We’ll let you know when we hear anything about the future of this series. Stay tuned!
