8. Money Heist

The biggest bank heist in history, this is the goal of a character only named “The Professor”. In order to do this, they assemble a group of eight robbers to pull it off. Each member of the team has some specific ability that will assist in the heist and they all have nothing to lose. The actual heist will take 11 days inside the Royal Mint in Spain, located in Madrid, and the goal is to print €2.4 billion. Within these 11 days, the team will have to deal with hostages and of course the police force. As the story unfolds though, complications arise and plots become evident as the members learn more about The Professor.

This Spanish heist series was originally aired on Spanish television but Netflix bought it and re-released it on their platform. Additionally, they decided to continue the series and it has found moderate success with viewers. That being said, it’s insanely binge-worthy. Everyone loves a good heist story and Money Heist delivers on all the tropes that they are looking for.

While it’s certainly no Ocean’s ElevenMoney Heist does break down into character study with each member of the team. Also, the characters outside of the heist are dived into as well, like the main contact for the negotiation and the leader of the police force trying to end the situation.

The third season lands on Netflix in July 2019.
