Lucifer fans are asking Netflix to not end the series after Lucifer season 5 and renew Lucifer for season 6.

Lucifer season 5 will be the final season of the series. Netflix just announced the show’s renewal and end recently, and that’s not sitting well with many Lucifer fans.

According to a report from Digitial Spy, Lucifer fans have started a petition calling on Netflix to renew the show for a sixth season. The petition, posted on Change.org, already has 12,000 signatures. Surely, more fans of the series will sign soon.

It doesn’t seem that there’s any harm in trying to get Netflix to reconsider their decision. Lucifer is clearly one of the most popular shows on TV right now, and that’s huge considering that, while it was on FOX, it was not.

While many fan petitions have failed, some have actually worked at Netflix. Most notably, Sense8 fans were able to convince Netflix to bring back the show after the series was canceled shortly after its second season. Netflix brought the series back for a two-hour series finale, and it was all because of the fans.

More from Lucifer

With Lucifer, though, it’s a little different. Netflix is bringing the show back for its final season. They aren’t just straight up canceling the show, as they have with some other shows, and that’s really the main difference.

Lucifer is getting a final season, and two more seasons than it would have had on FOX, so there’s at least a silver lining for fans of the series.

We don’t know why Netflix is ending Lucifer after season 5, although it also appears that Joe Henderson and Ildy Modrovich were intending the series to end with season 5. I can’t confirm if that’s true, but Netflix did include “as the creators” intended in their Facebook video confirming the show’s renewal and final season. That’s something.

We’ll let you know more about the future of Lucifer when we find out. Netflix might comment on the fan petition, so stay tuned for that, as well.

We still haven’t heard when to expect the fifth season of the Netflix series. It should be released in the spring of 2020. That’s likely when we’ll see the final season of the series, but that’s not official yet. Usually, it takes about a year from a Netflix show’s renewal to the premiere of the next season.
