23. V-Wars

Been missing your vampire fix after Vampire Diaries and Twilight has ended? Never fear, there is a new show on Netflix for you. V-Wars covers a mysterious disease that transforms the people it infects into vampires! The main character is Dr. Luther Swann, who through a series of events, must fight against his best friend, who just so happens to have been turned into a powerful vampire.

The change leads to a battle between the humans and the vampires. Who will win?

The virus begins infecting people due to climate change. It was frozen inside an ice cap, but once the ice melted, it was free to inflict itself on everyone. While there is no official date for V-Wars to come to Netflix, it is most likely going to premiere sometime this fall.

The V-wars started as a series of anthologies edited by Jonathan Maberry chronicling the first vampire war. The series is set to star Ian Somerhalder (but not as a vampire this time), Adrian Holmes, Jacky Lai, Peter Outerbridge, Kyle Breitkopf, and Kimberly-Sue Murray.

While we have had plenty of vampire content over the past decade, this definitely seems like a different twist. The big question is, especially if you haven’t read the anthology, whether Dr. Swann can find a cure or whether Earth is destined to be taken over by the bloodsuckers forever.

It will also be interesting to see what the “rules” for vampires will be in this world. Can they go out during the day? Do they need to be invited in? Will garlic keep them away? We’ll all have to wait and see.
