7. The Politician

Release Date: Sept. 27, 2019

The Politician is a new series coming to Netflix later this year and it is packed full of famous actors. Not only is Pitch Perfect’s Ben Platt starring as the main character, Payton Hobart, but it also features Gwyneth Paltrow, Jessica Lange, Zoey Deutch, Dylan McDermott, Bette Midler, January Jones, and Bob Balaban.

The series was created, written, and directed by Glee and AHS’s, Ryan Murphy. Clearly, there seem to be plenty of AHS and Glee alums coming to the show. Helen Hunt and Janet Mock are also named as directors.

The show will revolve around a wealthy student from Santa Barbara, Payton Hobart, and each season will follow a different political campaign he’s involved in. Payton has wanted to be the President of the United States since he was seven years old, and he starts off his journey at Saint Sebastian High School. He has to get elected student body president, get into Harvard, and stick to his plan for success.

The catch is he will have to move past his other classmates without sacrificing his morals and his image. That’s easier said than done and this being a Ryan Murphy production, odds are he acts much more ruthless than he wants others to believe.

How the rest of the cast fits into the show is still under wraps but with such a star-studded cast, this is not a show you want to miss!

The Politician hits Netflix on Sept. 27, 2019, and the first season will be ten hour-long episodes. It’s sure to get us all ready for what will be a relentless election season.
