4. The truth about Edgar and Evelyn Evernever

From the very beginning, Riverdale showed its true colors and presented itself as a very not-for-everyone kind of series. Either you get it or you waste your time poking holes in the campy dialogue.

Season 3 leaned into this notion and presented its most divisive stories to date, such as the exploration into a little cult called The Farm. For those who get it, the many left turns in the winding adventure of The Farm were a hands-in-the-air rollercoaster.

Fans with a finely tuned eye for detail will remember that The Farm had been mentioned as early as the first season, as it was Jason and Polly’s desired destination for escaping Riverdale with their baby.

In the end, Polly still manages to join The Farm and bring her mother on board in the wake of their family’s upheaval thanks to their serial killer father. The details start small: Levitating babies over a bonfire, Betty’s seizure, brainwashing — you know, the normal stuff.

But as The Farm continued to sink its roots in town and bring its teachings to the high school, Betty begins to notice the bonkers internal affairs stemming from its leaders, Edgar Evernever (played by teen drama vet Chad Michael Murray) and his daughter Evelyn.

As it turns out, they aren’t father and daughter. Evelyn’s 26 and married to Edgar! They pull in vulnerable souls, make them believe their dead loved ones are alive, and harvest their organs! Please always operate at this exact level of WTF, Riverdale.
