Let’s start with a new Netflix original special!

Miranda Sings Live. . . Your Welcome

No, we didn’t spell that wrong.

Those who mourned the loss of Haters Back Off will be pumped to see fictional YouTube star Miranda Sings gracing their Netflix homepages once more. That’s right, she’s back, this time with a goofy new comedy special that features actress Colleen Ballinger at the end of her recent pregnancy.

If you haven’t yet seen this shockingly tender dramedy, now is the time. Comedian Seth Rogen stars across from Joseph Gordon-Levitt in a surprisingly emotional story about a young man who is unexpectedly diagnosed with cancer. 50/50 is funny, it’s sweet and it’s worth a watch.

I Am Mother

You can color me super excited for I Am Mother, the new Netflix original sci-fi flick that comes to us after finding great success at Sundance Film Festival. Hilary Swank, Rose Byrne and newcomer Clara Ruugaard make up this small, female-driven cast in a story about a global extinction event.

Gran Torino

This flick is a total modern classic. Film icon Clint Eastwood directed, produced and starred in this moving story about a Korean War veteran who forms an unlikely friendship with his young Asian neighbor. It’s must-watch viewing for all the cinephiles out there.

A Silent Voice

If you like Japanese anime, you’ll have to check out A Silent Voice this weekend. This film follows the story of a hearing-impaired student whose former bully seeks redemption later in their lives. It’s a moving story that will definitely keep you entertained.
