Why Netflix should renew Lucifer for season 6

Lucifans are grateful Netflix is giving Lucifer another season, but here’s why a sixth would be even better for the series (and fans).

By now, all fans are aware and excited to learn Netflix has decided to renew Lucifer for season 5. The news, however, feels a tad bittersweet. The King of Hell will return, but season 5 is also his last. Are we ready to say goodbye to one of the best cast and crews on television after just getting them back?

The answer is obvious, no. But we must accept that all great things eventually come to an end. So, don’t get me wrong, I’m as happy as you are about the renewal. Lucifans love Netflix for giving Lucifer a chance after Fox canceled the series.

Rescuing the show did Netflix some good, too. Fans flocked to the streaming service, and for four consecutive weeks, Lucifer has been the most binge-watched series on Netflix.

We’re not being greedy (well, maybe a little bit, we do learn from Lucifer), we simply believe fans and the series would benefit more from two seasons. The reason is that there are just too many events that need to take place before we receive a satisfying finale.

In the final moments of season 4, Chloe (Lauren German) tells Lucifer (Tom Ellis) she loves him. Lucifer returns her feelings. It’s the moment we have long been waiting for! Unfortunately, due to the circumstances and knowing Chloe and everyone else he loves will never be safe with him present, Lucifer descends back to Hell.

The fifth and final season of the Netflix original series needs to stitch the story together perfectly to give us a satisfying ending. Assuming this coming season will also consist of 10 episodes, is that enough time for the story to not feel rushed?

Will just one more season be enough to feature Lucifer’s return, give us the Deckerstar romance we deserve, and tie up other character’s stories? We hope so! We’re so thankful to Netflix, though, that we trust everyone involved to give this great series an amazing finale.
