While fans have speculated that the third season of Marvel’s Runaways would focus primarily on the Pride kids fighting off the Gibborum, it appears as though another villain is set to make her debut: Morgan le Fay.

To quickly recap where Marvel’s Runaways is in its’ storyline, we’re approaching a climactic battle between the PRIDE kids and the Gibborum. The Season Two finale ended with a shocking development wherein it was revealed that the Jonah (Julian McMahon) and his extraterrestrial comrades inhabited the bodies of human, three of whom have assumed the identities of PRIDE parents. They’re now on course to destroy humanity by consuming as many lifeforms needed to sustain themselves.

In addition to the Gibborum dilemma, the Runaways will presumably have another villain to confront later this year: Morgan le Fay. The character played by Elizabeth Hurley will be introduced in Season Three alongside the renegade Gibborum who ditched Jonah and the others. It’s unclear if she’s on their side or a completely different entity altogether but the character description gives us a good idea of how Hurley’s character will be phased in.

According to the exclusive report by Variety, Marvel has released a character description for Morgan le Fay. It’s slightly different from the comic version, though most of her story appears to be in contact. Continue reading for a full description of Morgan le Fay below.

"Morgan le Fay is a student of Merlin who is considered the greatest sorceress of all time, only second to her master. Accompanied by a black crow that possesses the ability to enchant objects, manipulate mystical energy, and can create astral projections, Morgan is extremely powerful and arguably one of the most cut-throat of her kind."

Based on that brief description, it’s safe to say Morgan le Fay is going assume the role of an antagonist on Marvel’s Runaways. What’s unclear is how a magical character will enter the fray when the main storyline seems to be focusing more on extraterrestrials and aliens like Xavin (Clarrissa Thibodeaux). And while that’s true, odds are an exploration of Nico’s magical origins will lead to the discovery of Morgan le Fay.

In case anyone forgot, Nico Minoru (Lyrica Okano) wound up unlocking a dark source of magic power towards the end of Season Two. The surge of energy was released after Nico spent an extended period holding a protective spell in place.

The resulting exhaustion caused Nico to fall unconscious but she awoke shortly after, letting out a burst of dark energy. This didn’t cause Nico to become psychotic or attack her friends but the decayed skin around Nico’s eyes gave us the impression that she harnessed energy from the Dark Dimension via the Staff of One.

Assuming Nico did open a gate to the Dark Dimension, she probably created a portal for entities from the Dark Dimension to enter their world — most likely Morgan le Fay. We witnessed how Kaecillius (Mads Mikkelsen) and his minions’ vow to Dormammu in Doctor Strange let the dimension’s ruler into their world, so perhaps the same rule applies to anyone else who harnesses energy from there. There is, however, another possible explanation for Morgan le Fay’s introduction.

If she’s not inadvertently released from the Dark Dimension, there’s a chance that Morgan le Fay will be sought out by the Runaways themselves. Tina Minoru (Brittany Ishibashi) is currently out of the picture since she’s possessed by the Gibborum but Nico still need someone new to train her in the mystic arts. Morgan doesn’t seem like the best candidate but she may be Nico’s only hope for controlling the dark energy which inhabits her body now.
