Now that the Helicopter People have resurfaced — albeit on Fear The Walking Dead — could this be a sign that Season Five will set the stage for the upcoming TWD movies featuring Rick Grimes?

When the mysterious group of soldiers abducted Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) on The Walking Dead, very little was known about them. We learned that Jadis (Pollyanna McIntosh) brokered a deal with the clandestine group for trading, though the terms of their agreement were rather unclear. She classified Rick as an “A” which prompted the Helicopter People to extract them almost immediately afterward — this is in contrast to their delayed response when Jadis’ radioed in an offer for a “B” earlier on.

Despite failing to reappear in the remaining episodes of The Walking Dead’s ninth season, the Helicopter People have returned. The only difference this time is they’re on Fear The Walking Dead instead of its’ companion series.

In “Here To Help”, Althea (Maggie Grace) comes across the body of one of their soldiers. He was killed while on the ground and left for dead. Althea has to snuff out the reanimated corpse, but once that task is out of the way, she has a chance to investigate his body.

While going through the soldier’s vest, Al finds a sealed pouch. The contents of said pouch include a map and documents — all of which have the ‘three-circle’ symbol printed on them — the same symbol that was plastered across the helicopter which took Rick Grimes in Season Nine.

There’s also the matter of Althea being dragged away by another of their soldiers. The episode’s concluding moments show Al being taken away, presumably back to their encampment. She’s unconscious and will be for some time but that doesn’t mean she’ll disappear just like Rick, Heath, and Jadis did.

On the other hand, having a member of Morgan’s group captured would be a perfect way to bring everyone up to speed on the situation. Morgan (Lennie James) has no idea that Rick and Jadis went with the Helicopter People, but if a friend from Fear The Walking Dead was to be captured, he’d be the first person searching for them.

In the grand scheme of things, having Morgan uncover the dastardly plot makes the most sense too. He’s been around since the beginning of the series and would only be fitting that Morgan create the bridge between AMC’s television universe and the network’s upcoming movies.

Theories aside, the Helicopter People’s reemergence more than likely means the current season of Fear The Walking Dead will lead directly into next year’s movie. Fans assume the tenth season of TWD will provide the necessary build-up, but after seeing the rogue group appear on FTWD, it’s safe to say there’ll be more tie-ins before the season’s end. We’re not saying TWD’s tenth season won’t help set the stage, just don’t be surprised by any more teases in the current season of FTWD.
