The Season 2 Finale of Marvel’s Cloak And Dagger is quickly approaching and it’ll feature one of the series’ biggest foes to date: D’Spayre. Andre has been searching for ways to become a god but seems to be heading in an entirely different direction. Could he become a demon before the finale’s end?

If you’ve been keeping up with the latest episodes of Marvel’s Cloak And Dagger then you know that Andre Deschaine (Brooklyn McLinn) has been focusing all his efforts on becoming a god. He believes the locked doorway in his record room will lead to an omnipotent existence — one devoid of pain — but all it’s leading him towards is D’Spayre.

Warning! Potential spoilers for the upcoming finale of Cloak And Dagger follow. Read on at your own discretion.

The truth is that Andre is becoming a demonic villain rather than one of the Loa. He believes his quest will end with him ascending to godhood but those are just false hopes. Several references to the Marvel Comics’ villain have been dropped throughout Season 2, hinting at the demon’s imminent arrival. Andre hasn’t accepted this fate quite yet but he’ll have to in this week’s finale.

The notion of Andre Deschaine becoming a demon seems like a reveal that would be better left for the conclusion but it appears as if C&D’s marketing team has decided to make Andre’s alter-ego known ahead of time. Several tweets and teasers for the finale “Level Up” have images of Brooklyn McLinn attached but with him being referred to as D’Spayre. This all but confirms that Andre is being set up for a full transformation. The question is: Will Tandy and Tyrone be able to defeat a demonic Loa?

While it’s unclear whether or not the C&D team will defeat D’Spayre before the season’s end, he could become a recurring threat for them. Detective Connors (J.D. Evermore) is no longer in the picture and Mayhem (Emma Lahana) seems to have found a balance between her rage and Brigid’s more altruistic ideals, so this could be a perfect opportunity to establish a new/recurring villain on the show.

It is worth mentioning that Cloak And Dagger’s future is rather uncertain at the moment. Last week’s episode “Blue Note” saw a notable uptick in same-day viewings but the three episodes that aired in prior weeks didn’t do as well. In fact, there was a substantial dropoff of viewers for those specific episodes. That may or may not factor into Freeform’s decision to renew the Marvel series, course all we can do is hope the Season Two Finale rakes in bigger numbers so Freeform has a good reason to greenlight another season.

As for Andre aka D’Spayre, his fate may depend on the series’ overall future. Our guess is he’ll depart on an ambiguous note — one that either allows for him to return later down the line or sends him into a celestial realm permanently. In either case, Andre would be able to stay on the show indefinitely.
