6. Is Ella and Dan’s fling serious?

I’m still on the fence about this pairing. It’s not that Dan is Chloe’s ex, but that sometimes we just need characters to remain platonic. Why did the two have to hook up?

If it’s just because the two were going through the grieving process, I could accept that it was a one-off. However, it looks like it’s going to be more than that. By the end of Lucifer season 4, I got the feeling that this could be something far more serious than it originally intended to be.

Dan is still grieving over Charlotte. Yes, eventually he needs to move on but the fourth season really only gave us a year. Would that be enough time for Dan to grieve and move onto a new love? Considering how much time it took him to get over Chloe – and they divorced! – then it seems a little too fast.

Meanwhile, Ella is dealing with a crisis of faith. People do some crazy things when they’re going through that. Just look at how April acted out in Grey’s Anatomy while going through a crisis of faith or how Ray in SEAL Team has been acting. The idea of Ella suddenly moving into a relationship feels off.

The Dan/Ella thing did come out of the blue. At least the writing was done well because it came out of the blue for the characters, too. However, I’m not sure if there’s something more serious between them. If there is, how will Chloe and Trixie react?
