8. The Chef Show

Season: 1

Created By: Jon Favreau

Starring: Jon Favreau and Roy Choi

Release Date: Friday, June 7

It’s no secret that in the past few years, Netflix has grown its original content beyond scripted comedy and drama series. Now you can find pretty any kind of original content you could ever dream of, including documentaries, reality series, and cooking shows. Jumping off of the success of the super-classy Chef’s Table, Netflix debuts The Chef Show, which reunites director Jon Favreau and chef Roy Choi after their 2014 film Chef.

In the film, Favreau plays a chef who quits his job at a high-end restaurant to open a food truck. Choi executive produced and oversaw the food preparation. The Chef Show finds Favreau and Choi coming together to take a culinary adventure by experiment with their favorite recipes and explore different kinds of food. The series joins the friends as they share a meal with the cast of Avengers in Atlanta, learn the tricks of smoking brisket in Texas, and honor a famous food critic in Los Angeles, among many other food-based adventures.

The Chef Show will strike the interest of binge-watchers who love to take a secondhand seat on culinary travel series and learn a few new things about cuisine along the way. And its star-studded and adventurous point of view doesn’t hurt. As if the series doesn’t sell itself, it boasts guest appearances by Robert Downey Jr., Bill Burr, Tom Holland, the Russo Brothers, Robert Rodriguez, and fellow food enthusiast Gwyneth Paltrow. Don’t miss the eight episodes of The Chef Show’s premiere season when it begins streaming on the first Friday of the month!
