The Lonely Island surprises viewers with Bash Brothers special on Netflix
By Bryce Olin
Watch The Lonely Island Presents: The Unauthorized Bash Brothers Experience on Netflix starring Andy Samberg and Akiva Schaffer.
The Lonely Island just dropped a Netflix original visual album about Jose Canseco and Mark McGwire, members of the Oakland A’s baseball team, on Netflix, and it’s out of this world! Titled The Lonely Island presents The Unauthorized Bash Brothers Experience, the special premiered on Netflix on Thursday, May 23.
The new special features Andy Samberg as Jose Canseco and Akiva Schaffer as Mark McGwire in a sequence of music videos, basically, with a central theme: The Bash Brothers. It’s like Beyonce’s Lemonade, but it’s funny, about baseball, and more specifically about Canseco and McGwire.
The Lonely Island teased something was coming to Netflix at midnight. We had no idea what it would be, but I don’t think anyone was expecting this wizardry.
This special is bonkers! There’s so much to digest here, and I’ll probably have to watch it a few times to make sure I didn’t miss anything. It’s only 30 minutes long, and there are about a half-dozen songs with ridiculous visuals to go along with it.
Watch the video for “Uniform On” from The Unauthorized Bash Brothers Experience below! It’s probably the best song and video combo from the visual album.
The Lonely Island has been cranking out comedy hits for years. This masterpiece is just another example of their greatness.
If you love The Lonely Island, the Oakland A’s, baseball, or comedy, in general, you have to check out Bash Brothers on Netflix. It’s one of the weirdest, best and funniest things I’ve ever seen. I don’t know how else to describe it. Just go watch it!
Oh, and don’t forget to stick around through the credits for Jorma Taccone’s Joe Montana.
