8. The O.C.

If you didn’t just read “The O.C.” without the theme song popping into your head, you’re either not a real fan of the classic series or just have never seen it. If it’s the latter, you are forgiven and get a pass. But you do need to watch The O.C. as soon as possible. It’s a cultural icon.

The O.C. stars Benjamin McKenzie (and as you’ll see on the show, the actor never aged), Adam Brody, Rachel Bilson, and Mischa Barton (before she went through that strange phase). If you’re a fan of any of these four stars today, it’s likely because you met them on The O.C., first.

Oh, the years of dramatic teen dramas! There are still many around today, and some things never change, but nothing has been created quite like The O.C.! And sure, the series definitely got a little crazy towards its final two seasons, but we choose not to remember those moments and only the good times.

The series follows Ryan Atwood, a troubled teen, who is taken in by a wealthy family. His new foster family consists of Sandy and Kirsten Cohen and their biological son, Seth. Throughout the series, Ryan and Seth deal with school, first world problems, and relationships.

The O.C. premiered on August 2013 and ran for four seasons until an underwhelming finale in 2007. Where can you stream it now? All episodes are available on Hulu!
