12. Are you Afraid of the Dark?

Canada, why won’t you share Are You Afraid of the Dark? with Netflix? That’s right, in case you didn’t know, the fantasy-horror anthology series is a gift from Canada. The series premiered in 1990 on YTV for six years and premiered its final season in 2000. It only took a few months before Nickelodeon noticed it and picked it up in 1991.

All episodes ran for under 25 minutes, but that’s all the time needed to provide us with chills and restless nights. Hey, don’t judge, we were young and innocent!

Miss the scares? Well, get ready to dig out the nightlight from your closet, because a revival is coming! Earlier this year, it was announced that Are You Afraid of the Dark? would return as a miniseries just in time for Halloween on October 2019.

You know what would be even better, though? If Are You Afraid of the Dark? would return but on Netflix. Not just that, but if the original episodes also became available there.

Let’s face it, though, it is highly unlikely the young audience today would care about the series. They would only make fun of the special effects. Kids these days, they don’t get it. The reason we want the series on Netflix is for us big kids!

Unfortunately, there isn’t a streaming service that has this chilling series available. But you can try to catch the reruns on Nickelodeon. Fun fact: Ryan Gosling stars in an episode!
