17. When We First Met

Released on Netflix in 2018, When We First Met is another rom-com that balances the comedy with the romance really well. The film starts out with Noah and Avery being friends but Noah is secretly in love with her. The problem is is that she is getting engaged to someone else. Wanting to still have his chance with her, Noah uses a photo booth at her engagement party as a way to travel back in time to the day they met to try and change the outcome of their relationship.

When We First Met stars Adam Devine, Alexandra Daddario, Shelley Hennig, Andrew Bachelor, Robbie Amell, Dean J. West, Tony Cavalero, and Chris Wylde.

Each time Noah goes back in time, he produces a different outcome in the present. He re-meets Avery, but things go horribly wrong when Avery’s friend Carrie, who Noah met earlier in the day, comes home early and thinks Noah is a stalker. When he goes to Avery’s engagement party in the present, he is no longer her friend, but the stalker from years ago.

He goes back again and again, but the results are never to his satisfaction. Eventually, he asks Carrie what to do and she deems Avery and Ethan (her fiance) meant to be. Noah is heartbroken but then he begins learning more about Carrie in each alternate reality.

The final time he goes back, he brings Ethan with him to meet Avery so that he can spend time with Carrie. He ends up with Ethan, Avery, and Carrie in the photo booth and finally, wakes up in the present he recognizes. Unfortunately, he finds that Carrie and him broke up and she is on a date. When he confronts her, she rejects his advances.

Upset, he tries the photo booth one more time and replays the meeting with Avery the original way. When he wakes up, he goes to the engagement party and spends time together and leaves with Carrie.
