In the past few years, more reboots, revivals, and remakes have premiered than we have been ready for, and some of them have barely been asked for (but we won’t name names). Finally, this fall, a sequel that’s been 10 years in the making and highly anticipated will hit theaters and bring the comedy back to zombies. Zombieland: Double Tap arrives in October, but months before, Zombieland comes to Netflix as one of May’s no-brainer bet new releases.

The film takes place in a time when the world has been overrun by a zombie apocalypse, thanks to a virus that evolved from a strain of mad cow disease. For safety, the world’s remaining survivors stay away from those inflicted with the disease and engage in a never-ending battle with the flesh-hungry undead. When survivors Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg), Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson), Wichita (Emma Stone), and Little Rock (Abigail Breslin) team up and follow the rules of zombie-killing, their adventure to a safe haven will prove the ultimate battle.

Upon release, Zombieland became a sleeper hit, debuting at the top of the box office and ultimately raking in a total worldwide gross of $102.4 million against its $23.6 million budget. The film received critical acclaim, earning a 90% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. After years of delays, the long-awaited sequel, Zombieland: Double Tap, reunites the core four main cast members and will be released this October in observation of the film’s 10-year anniversary. Prepare for the sequel by watching the original classic when it streams at the top of May.
