Renewed: Sex Education

Renewed for: Season 2

What it’s about: Otis is just a teenager who struggles with masturbation and sex. However, while he can’t do things himself and has no experience, he gives some of the best advice thanks to being raised by a mother who is a sex therapist.

Maeve, a teenager with a lonely secret, needs money and she realizes that Otis could be the perfect way to get it. The two start up a sex therapy business in the school, helping with some of the most intimate problems while finding out that there may be more to their own lives.

Why the renewal is good: Sex Education has been one of the funniest shows on Netflix in 2019. It delivered a strong story mixed in with the comedy, focusing on a diverse group of boys and girls in the high school. This wasn’t about ticking boxes, but about telling the best story possible.

We need more content like this. We need stories that will test our knowledge and help us see the realities of the day. Shows that give us different sides to the same character are essential.

Plus, we need shows that are going to entertain us. Sex Education ticks all the boxes, as we get a story of coming-of-age, friendship, sex, relationships, and much more.

The show also gave us a group of actors early in their career, but you’d never believe it watching the show. It gives newer actors a chance to succeed and show off their talents. Sometimes, not knowing who actors are allows us to enjoy a series more and that was certainly the case for Sex Education.
