It’s natural to keep a wish list of shows you want to become available on Netflix tucked in the back of your mind. Sure, the content they continue to have on the ready and produce round the clock are great, but what about the series with exclusive accessibility or no accessibility at all? Sometimes if we’re lucky, those kinds of shows end up in our watch lists. Lo and behold, fan-favorite historical fantasy series Outlander comes to Netflix as one of May’s best new releases.

Based on the series of historical time travel novels by Diana Gabaldon, Outlander stars Caitriona Balfe as married World War II nurse Claire Randall living in 1945. That is, until she finds herself thrust back in time to 1743 Scotland, where she meets Highland warrior Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) and gets caught up in the middle of the Jacobite rites. Each season adapts a novel in the book series, with the first two adapting Outlander and Dragonfly in Amber.

Outlander premiered on Starz in 2014 and earlier this year wrapped its fourth season. As there are nine and counting books in the series, Starz renewed the hit show for at least two more seasons, a fifth and sixth season that will each contain 12 episodes. But before jumping back into history with Claire and Jamie as soon as later this year, catch up with the 16-episode first season and the 13-episode second season when they finally arrive on Netflix for instant streaming in the final week of May.
