Somewhere along the way, Netflix gained the reputation of being the savior for shows that were canceled by traditional networks. If a basic cable network tossed a show and enough fans clamored, the streamer would swoop in a save it. Well, it gained that reputation because it’s still doing it. This May, the fourth season of former Fox series Lucifer will make its official bow as a Netflix original series (and next month, one-time ABC hit Designated Survivor makes its same debut).

Based on the DC Comics character from The Sandman comic book series, Lucifer follows Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis), who resigns his throne as the Lord of Hell and moves to Los Angeles. Now that he’s among the living, Lucifer decides to help the LAPD punish criminals and open a nightclub. The series aired its finale episodes on Fox last May, and now has a world of opportunity for what stories it can tell and how much of Lucifer’s skin it can show, as teased by the season 4 trailer.

As the third season finale ended on a cliffhanger, it’s no surprise that fans influenced Netflix to pick up the series with the #SaveLucifer campaign. On top of getting their questions answered, the series also honors fans with the ninth episode (out of 10) being titled “Save Lucifer.” The fourth season will bring back your favorite characters and introduce some new ones as it continues telling its twisted tale. Make sure to catch up on the first three seasons, which are streaming now, before the new episodes arrive on May 8.
