More of Steve playing a parental role

Steve took on a role that maybe the fans didn’t see coming initially. However, once everything was underway, it made more and more sense. Steve was charged with watching over some of the kids and took on a bit of a babysitter role.

By the end of everything, it really turned into more of a parental role. He dropped Dustin off at the Snow Ball, as most fathers would. You can even expect some corny jokes out of him despite the fact that he was initially seen as the older cool kid (until Billy came along, I guess).

Once Nancy and Steve broke up, Nancy had her moments with Jonathan that kept her tied to the story. For Steve, he needed to be involved in some other way in order to still be relevant to the story. It’s clear that he and Nancy both realized that things weren’t going to work out and that it was okay to break things off.

Nancy is also an older sibling to Mike, so she wasn’t going anywhere. Steve doesn’t have a younger sibling, so putting him in charge of some of the kids was the best move they had and it paid off. I’m looking forward to seeing where that parental role takes Steve in season three, especially since Dustin doesn’t have a father figure in his life.
