Zombies in Hawkins

Hawkins has a lot going on that hasn’t fully been resolved from the first two seasons of Stranger Things. The Mind Flayer, Demogorgons, Demo-dogs and the vines have all made their way to the city. While the vines are the most dangerous on the list, they’re still sentient.

Would Hawkins be able to withstand even more types of monsters coming to town? We see one new one in the trailer, but it still looks like it’s from the Demogorgon species. Zombies would be a whole new ballgame for the town to deal with.

This speculation came about when the episode titles were revealed. Both “The Bite” and “The Battle of Starcourt” had fans wondering about a possible homage to *Dawn of the Dead*. Admittedly, I’ve never seen the movie, so it wasn’t something that caught my attention. I imagine “The Battle of Starcourt” will have a huge showdown, but this information is making me question who they’ll be fighting against.

The Duffer Brothers never shied away from admitting what properties have influenced them when creating this show. Stephen King would give kids powers in many of his books and stories, the same way Eleven is given powers here. You have Dungeons & Dragons playing a big role in the kids’ lives. Plus, there are a plethora of other 80s pop culture references. Adding zombies to the mix wouldn’t be too out of the blue for them.
