4. Fittest on Earth: A Decade of Fitness

Fittest on Earth: A Decade of Fitness is about the sport of Crossfit. Crossfit has a yearly competition called the Crossfit Games, consisting of five days and 15 events, where the crown whey is deemed the Fittest Man or Woman on Earth. The documentary here takes a look at the state of Crossfit 10 years after the sport’s first competition.

On a separate note from the general topic of Crossfit, this film is beautiful cinematically. The way it is shot makes it look similar to Friday Night Lights sometimes and then at others it feels just like watching the Crossfit Games on ESPN.

Fittest on Earth: A Decade of Fitness just talks about how the sport developed. There is a lot of work that goes into the games and now people get an inside look on all sides of it.

I say all sides because the documentary gives a view from the people hosting the games, as well as from the athletes perspective. The directors just give a little glimpse into each side, but it helps to finally understand how much work everyone puts in. The athletes have to prep their bodies and practice their lifts. The hosts have to book a location then organize getting everything put together and set up a schedule of events. Then they have to deal with all the registration and what not.

Not only does this inspire you to go to the gym, but it also inspires you to just go out and try to achieve your personal dream. This documentary says go for it. No matter what your dream is, this film will inspire you to go for it.
