Netflix is testing a random episode button, which will allow Netflix to pick good episodes of certain shows for viewers to watch.

Want Netflix to choose a random episode of your favorite shows for you to watch? That is closer to becoming reality!

According to a report from Android Police, Netflix has started testing a “random episode” button. For some shows, Netflix is just going to choose an episode for you, and if you want to continue watching random episodes, there’s another shuffle button at the bottom that enables Netflix to keep choosing episodes for you. That’s pretty cool!

Of course, Android Police reports this doesn’t work for every show. It’s just for a select group of shows where this tech feature would be an option.

This is a great idea! In the age of Netflix, there’s no reason we need to watch anything chronologically. I want to watch The Office like I’m watching a Tarantino movie. Just bounce all over the timeline.

I’m only sort of joking. This feature would work great for Friends, The Office, Arrested Development, Parks and Rec, The Ranch and other comedies. I’ve seen all the episodes, and now, I just want to kick back and enjoy great episodes of those shows. I’m surprised this hasn’t happened already!

Clearly, this doesn’t work for shows like Orange is the New Black, Stranger Things, Breaking Bad and others. You need to follow the story in those shows, and that’s the only way to watch those stories. You can get a little wild if you want to, but there’s really no point.

I’m hoping Netflix makes this button a reality for all subscribers. They are testing new features all the time, and only a few of them end up sticking. Here’s to hoping a shuffle or random episode option is here to stay!
