Wisconsin: Making a Murderer

Choosing the right show on Netflix to represent Wisconsin proved to be a very interesting challenge. For a state that’s arguably best known for its cheese, there’s actually a pretty diverse sampling of series out there that tackle life in Wisconsin. The most obviously great runner-up to represent The Badger State is easily the hit comedy That 70s Show.

The best to represent Wisconsin as it really is, though, is Making a Murderer. This Netflix original series was a certified viral hit. Detailing the life and incarceration of Steven Avery, this show made everyone question the legal system. It was a truly fascinating watch, packed to the brim with twists and turns you’d never see coming.

Even better? The story didn’t stop after one season. Season two swooped in last year to focus on the aftermath of the first installment, presenting us with updates and a look into the even further future of Steven Avery.

Making a Murderer doesn’t exactly put Wisconsin in too great a light. After all, it is coming after the state’s justice system. That being said, the show tried hard to represent that tiny corner of life as it really is, showing off the good, the bad and the downright gruesome.
