Nevada: Kakegurui

When you think of Nevada what’s the very first thing to come to your mind? That’s easy: for almost anyone, it’s Las Vegas. Sin City is known throughout the world as an entertainment capital.

While there are currently no shows on Netflix that center around Las Vegas outright, there are many individual episodes that take beloved characters there. See for reference: the classic Friends episode “The One in Vegas” parts 1 and 2. There’s also a Netflix original series that–while not set in The Silver State–certainly seems to capture the spirit of its most famous city: Kakegurui.

This series centers on Hyakkaou Private Academy, an elite school where the students are judged on their gambling skills. A New student, Yumeko Jabami, enrolls with high hopes that she can clean out her opponents and make a name for herself. It’s easy to see how a show all about high stakes and the art of the deal would fit in well with Las Vegas, Nevada’s infamous casino culture, right?

Lucky for you, if you like Kakegurui the anime series, there’s even more where that came from. Also currently streaming on Netflix is the live-action series that just came out last year. There is one season of each available for your viewing pleasure!
