Virginia: Criminal Minds

Thanks to its ties to so many government agencies, Old Dominion is the setting for a lot of great TV shows. However, there’s one long-running series that always seems to consistently dominate: Criminal Minds.

Despite turnover in the cast or sometimes outrageous storylines, this show seemed to always scrap through. Criminal Minds started its run way back in 2005 and only recently got renewed for its fifteenth and final season.

If you’ve never seen the series, the premise is actually relatively simple. A group of elite FBI behavioral profilers travels the nation as they work on various gruesome and disturbing cases, frequently involving serial killers.

The show is tied back to Virginia in that “home base” is located in famed Quantico, Virginia. We see this setting frequently, as the team flies from there to the location of their next case.

If Criminal Minds doesn’t do it for you (or, hey, maybe you’ve already binged through the whole series), there are plenty of other great shows based in Virginia for you to try. Top runners up include Quantico (duh), Mindhunter and even The Vampire Diaries. That last series has a very different feel from the others, as it deals in fantasy rather than crime.
