Indiana: Stranger Things

Ah, Stranger Things! From the minute this 80s inspired sci-fi series premiered, Netflix viewers were ready to pack up all their belongings and move to Hawkins, Indiana.

Unfortunately for us, Hawkins isn’t actually a real town. Nevertheless, if life there is anything like the real Indiana, then you can count us in for a road trip to check out The Hoosier State.

Sure, Hawkins might have a *minor* supernatural problem. Stranger Things focuses on various atrocities and cover-ups committed by the local Hawkins National Laboratory and, as such, we get to see a lot of freaky-lookin’ creatures. There are demogorgons and demodogs, plus a slew of kids with crazy powers (enter Eleven). Honestly, though, the supernatural element to Hawkins isn’t a turn off: it makes us want to visit even more! Who wouldn’t want a close-up glimpse of all those creepy monsters? Assuming we’d make it out with our lives, that is. . .

If Hawkins doesn’t quite do it for you, there is a Netflix Indiana Runner-Up. The popular NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation takes place in fictional Pawnee, Indiana, a kooky small town known for its obesity and raccoon problem. Much like with Stranger Things’ Hawkins, we’re weirdly not totally turned off by the bad stuff about Pawnee. There are so many interesting residents there that we’d gladly take a trip.
