Dorothy and Alice: Netflix is making an Alice in Wonderland-Wizard of Oz crossover movie

Anna Klassen confirms she is writing the script for Dorothy and Alice, Netflix’s new Wizard of Oz and Alice in Wonderland crossover movie.

Netflix has been working on a new crossover film featuring Alice from Alice in Wonderland and Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, according to a report from Collider. Recently, Anna Klassen took to Twitter to confirm that she has been tapped to write the script for the new Netflix original fantasy adventure film.

According to the report, the original script by Justin Merz had the two heroines meet at a home for troubled girls. After discovering their similar adventures, the two heroines set out to save Wonderland and Oz, as well as other allegedly fictional realms, from destruction. And in the process, save our own world.

Klassen has said that the plot for Dorothy and Alice has changed, but was not forthcoming on what those changes entailed. As a fan of both books, there is hope that she will be faithful to the characters and their original storylines. There is such potential in both Alice and Dorothy as strong young women. I, for one, am very excited to see where she goes with this.

This is still very much at the beginning stages. It will be quite some time before there is a completed script, much fewer hints at who is in the running to be cast in the title roles. Depending on the script’s timeline, we could see some fresh new faces. These could be quite the breakout roles for two young actresses.

With more classic stories losing their copyright, it shouldn’t come as a surprise to see more crossovers. Personally, I will never stop holding out hope for a Sherlock/Dracula crossover. If Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss could get on that asap, it would be much appreciated.
