At this past week’s WonderCon, Austin Amelio spoke to the press in attendance and teased what his introduction to Fear The Walking Dead would entail. Sadly, it sounds like Amelio’s Dwight is in for a rough ride.

During the event’s panel for Fear The Walking Dead, Amelio was asked about how his character would be introduced to the show. He wasn’t able to provide specifics but Amelio did hint that Dwight will be in one of the darkest points in life—post-apocalypse that is.

According to Amelio, life won’t get any easier for the Walking Dead alum. Dwight will apparently be at one of the darkest points in his life—even after that arduous fight with Negan and the Saviors in Season 8.

The prospect of Dwight hitting a rougher patch doesn’t sound possible, but when it comes to FTWD and TWD, demoralizing characters is what the two series are best known for. Dwight has felt the brunt of this in action and will see more in the coming season of Fear The Walking Dead.

What’s interesting about Amelio’s comments is that Dwight will be reunited with Morgan (Lennie James) at some point on this dark journey. And depending on Dwight’s mental state at the time, he could be a danger to our favorite survivors.

The Season 5 trailer did provide a glimpse at Dwight sneaking up on John Dorie (Garrett Dillahunt) with a gun, so there’s a good chance he’ll cement himself as an antagonist once again. Of course, it’s just as possible that Dwight will attempt to redeem himself in light of recent events.

Many people assume that just because there’s a negative connotation attached to “dark character arcs”, it means a person can’t come back from their unfortunate situation. TWD, however, has shown us on multiple occasions that everyone deserves a shot at redemption—even Dwight.
