2. She’s Gotta Have It

Premiere Date: May 24, 2019

Season: 2 (10 episodes)

After originally premiering in November of 2017, the second season of She’s Gotta Have It is finally debuting on Netflix in late May. The dramedy series was created by Spike Lee and is based on his 1986 movie by the same name. The critically acclaimed series is executive produced by Lee and his wife, Tonya Lewis Lee.

The series follows Nola Darling (DeWanda Wise), a Brooklyn-based artist struggling with her career dreams and that of her social life. Aside from her job and spending time with her friends, Nola tries to juggle multiple open relationships. There’s Jamie Overstreet (Lyriq Bent), a married father, photographer Greer Childs (Cleo Anthony), and part-time lover Mars Blackmon (Anthony Ramos). As Nola struggles with her career path as an artist, her relationships with the men become more complicated especially when former love interest Opal (Ilfenesh Hadera) comes back into the picture.

The second season will see the return of the cast mentioned above as well as Clorinda Bradford (Margot Bingham), Shemekka Epps (Chyna Layne) and Winnie Win (Fat Joe). For the second season, Nola will go beyond Brooklyn for her latest journey, discovering new destinations as she continues to find her true self. It will also showcase how gentrification is affecting their lives as well as their Brooklyn neighborhood.
