Netflix prices are going up in May 2019. The price increases were announced in January and will be implemented next month.

Those Netflix price increases announced earlier this year are kicking in next month. According to a report from CNN, Netflix is sending emails to all their subscribers announcing Netflix prices are going up in the next 30 days.

If you signed up for Netflix between January and now, your prices are not going up because you’re already paying the higher prices for your subscription.

If you have the basic Netflix plan, your subscription price is increasing $1, from $8 to $9 per month. The standard plan currently costs $11 per month, and it’s increasing $2 to $13 per month. The premium subscription plan is going up from $14 per month to $16 per month.

While these increases are not that much per year, especially compared to what some pay for other subscription services, it’s not a great look when Netflix is canceling a lot of great shows, including all the Marvel shows, One Day at a Time and more.

This might be an unpopular opinion, but Netflix has been underpriced for a few years now. They have more content than almost any streaming service, and they’re investing billions in original content, more than, pretty much, every other network or studio. And, there’s more competition coming very soon, as mentioned in the CNN report.

Disney and WarnerMedia are rolling out new streaming services. Apple has something in the works, and we don’t really know what that will amount to. Netflix has been the industry standard for years, and there’s more competition coming. They’ll need any extra cash to put into their original shows and movies to make sure they’re still the best in the business in a few years time.

We’ll let you know more about the Netflix prices and if they are going up again in the future. Stay tuned!
