Production has started on Atypical season 3. We’re expecting to see the new season of the Netflix original series this summer or early fall.

Atypical has started filming season 3!

The Netflix original series was renewed for season 3 after the second season premiered on the streaming service in August 2018. After the show’s rocky first season, season 2 was excellent. The fixed the show’s major problems and produced an awesome, funny and sweet series. Netflix fans love this show, and you will, too, if you start watching now.

On World Autism Awareness Day (April 2), Atypical shared the news via the show’s official Twitter account along with a picture of Keir Gilchrist, Nik Dodani, Brigette Lundy-Paine, and Jenna Boyd. Only Jennifer Jason Leigh, Michael Rapaport, Amy Okuda and Graham Rodgers are missing from the picture.

We don’t know much about the third season of the series yet. Obviously, it should pick up right after the events of the second season, and based on where the season was headed, the season should be a lot different than the first two seasons. Spoilers for season 2 ahead!

At the end of the season, Sam was accepted into college, so we have to assume we’ll get to see him take on that challenge in the new season. That will likely change the series dynamic moving forward.

We still haven’t heard when the new season will be released. Based on the first and second season release dates, we’re expecting to see season 3 in August or September 2019. Usually, there is about a yearlong gap between seasons, so that’s what we’re expecting for the new season as well.

Stay tuned for more news about Atypical season 3 and the show’s release date!
