Netflix shared the trailer for their new series Dead to Me starring Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini. The Netflix original series premieres on May 3, and the season consists of 10 episodes.

Dead to Me is a new dark comedy starring Applegate as Jen. According to Netflix and the trailer,  Jen’s husband was killed in a hit and run. While trying to come to terms with the loss, Jen meets Judy, who is played by Cardellini.

Based on the trailer, Judy is on the opposite end of the spectrum, personality-wise. Where Jen is organized and on time, Judy is a hot mess and usually late. Where Jen likes modern concepts, Judy is a new-age junkie that believes in burning sage to cleanse a place of negative energy.

These two opposites form a strong bond, but it is disrupted when the cops come looking for Judy. Of course, all this will be spread out over the upcoming season. The trailer (above) shows that the unlikely duo will get into some comical hijinx.

Dead to Me is the next series that will be about a spouse dealing with the death of their significant other, following Ricky Gervais’s After Life. I love the new dark comedy trend that is going on lately in the world of TV. It seems that it is helping people understand that there is a release to all the negativity in the world today.

Liz Feldman created the series, and the series is produced by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay.

We’ll see if this series can hold up to the British equivalent that is After Life. Dead to Me is set to be released on May 3, 2019.
