2. Bryce Walker — 13 Reasons Why

Played by: Justin Prentice

When the character first appeared: Bryce appeared in the very first episode of 13 Reasons Why.

Why fans don’t like the character: When it comes to Netflix Originals, there’s one that stands out for hated characters. With each of the characters flawed, there’s something to hate about everyone, and that includes Dylan Minnette’s Clay Jensen. However, Bryce quickly became Enemy #1 from the very first season. It’s clear that there’s something he did to at least one girl in the school.

Over the course of the first season, we learned just what he did. There’s no excuse for rape, whether date rape or not. Girls had to go to school with him after he did this. But it wasn’t just him — all the jocks were involved in some sort of way but he was the one that led the pack.

During the second season, the hatred for Bryce grew further. Finally, Jessica spoke out about him and all he got was a slap on the wrist. It showed everything that we’ve read in the news about someone from a privileged background, of how they escape justice because heaven forbid their own actions and being caught affect their future.

There are no redeeming qualities for Bryce throughout the first two seasons. He doesn’t even seem to accept that he’s done anything wrong, so there isn’t even a chance of some attempt of a redemption arc. It’s clear this is a character we’re supposed to hate and that’s exactly what we do.

But he’s not the most hated Netflix character on this list. There’s one from 13 Reasons Why who is so much worse.
