Arrow is coming to an end after a 10-episode final season on The CW. Despite the fact that some fans might want it to continue, Netflix shouldn’t save the show.

Arrow is currently in the second half of its seventh season and according to The Hollywood Reporter, season 8 will be the show’s final one. With a shorter season consisting of 10 episodes, it’s clear that The CW has an end in mind for the show. It is similar to what Fox has done with Gotham, which is ending on a final season consisting of nine episodes.

That’s a great way for a show to end and since it’s a comic book show, that doesn’t mean Green Arrow is gone for good. Stephen Amell even mentioned as much in a recent Facebook Live video. That said, I think Netflix shouldn’t try to save the show because it doesn’t appear to be one that needs saving.

Sometimes shows end for a reason, whether it’s because of the main cast member wanting to leave or creators having an ending in mind from the start. It’s clear that Amell is in a different place than he was when the show began. He co-founded Nocking Point and now has a family. It’s natural for people to want a change of pace and that’s something that I hope fans can respect.

Green Arrow will always live on since the character has been a staple for DC Comics quite some time. This particular version of the character might be coming to an end, but there’s no doubt in my mind that DC will have future plans for Green Arrow. Whether that’s another TV show or if the character makes the jump to the movies, that remains to be seen.

If Netflix saves a show, more often than not it’s because the show wasn’t given a proper ending. Two recent ones that come to mind are Designated Survivor and Lucifer. The latter left many unanswered questions, so fans wanted closure. With Arrow, we’ll hopefully already have some closure once the final 10 episodes wrap.

Next. Lucifer season 4 expected to premiere on Netflix this spring. dark
