The Office, The Good Place and other NBCU shows to stay on Netflix

With Friends and the Disney, Marvel and Star Wars movies leaving Netflix, The Office, The Good Place and NBCU shows will stay on Netflix.
It looks like The Office, The Good Place, and all the other NBCUniversal shows will remain on Netflix for now. According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, Comcast CEO Brian Roberts said the company will not pull the NBCUniversal content from the streaming service and add it to the NBCU streaming service.
Roberts made the comments at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom Conference, and while he didn’t mention Netflix, Hulu and Amazon by name, he did say the content would remain at third-party platforms, according to the report.
This news comes after Disney and WarnerMedia have already announced they’ll be taking their content from third-party platforms, like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon and others, when they launch their respective streaming service later this year.
This is good news for a number of reasons. First of all, we’re all here because we like watching these shows on Netflix. The Office and the NBCU shows staying on Netflix is a big deal, and it’s great news for those who value streaming those shows at their convenience on Netflix.
Second, it shows there’s still hope for Netflix to keep the rights to licensed shows. Not all the major studios are pulling their content and adding it to their own streaming service, like Disney is with Disney+ and WarnerMedia is planning to do as well.
We are reaching the breaking point for Netflix and all these other streaming services, and what subscribers are willing to pay. I don’t believe every standalone streaming service can survive if prices continue to rise. Disney and WarnerMedia can bankroll their own streaming services, but we have to wonder how long they will do that if they don’t get the revenues they need. These major companies have made huge mistakes in the past.
If Netflix continues to make great content and keep licensed shows like The Office, The Good Place and more, things will be just fine for them.
It’s possible The Office and the other NBCU shows could leave Netflix in the future to join the new NBC streaming service, but that won’t be for a while if it even happens at all.
