The Haunting of Hill House renewed for season 2 at Netflix

Netflix renewed The Haunting of Hill House for season 2 and announced it will be released in 2020. They also signed Mike Flanagan, the creator, to an exclusive deal.

The Haunting of Hill House is officially coming back for season 2 at Netflix, according to a report from Deadline. Netflix announced the news with a teaser trailer on the official Haunting of Hill House twitter account.

The Haunting of Hill House will now be an anthology series. The second season will not be directly connected to the events of the first season.

Like the seasons of American Horror Story, Hill House season 2 will have new characters and tell a different story, according to the report. Deadline is also reporting that some of the actors from season 1 will be back to play new characters in the second season.

Deadline is also reporting Netflix has inked Mike Flanagan, the creator of the series, to an exclusive deal, so they’ll be developing more projects with one of the best horror storytellers in the industry right now.

Obviously, this is the biggest Netflix news of the day, and probably the year so far. The Haunting of Hill House was a major hit for the streaming network. It took a little bit for it to catch on, but it was a huge success on social media. Everyone was watching and talking about it, and with an October release date, it was the perfect Halloween series.

It’s a bummer we have to wait until 2020 to see the next installment of the franchise, but it’s understandable, considering the terms of Flanagan’s deal and a completely new story in the works.
