The Kissing Booth 2 is officially happening at Netflix

Netflix officially ordered The Kissing Booth 2! Joey King, Joel Courtney, and Jacob Elordi, and likely the rest of the cast, will return for the sequel to the Netflix original film.

The Kissing Booth 2 is officially in the works at Netflix! The streaming network announced the sequel on in a new video on Twitter via their See What’s Next account.

According to the video, stars of the first film Joey King, Jacob Elordi and Joel Courtney will also star in the sequel. Molly Ringwald, who also stars in the first movie, will hopefully be involved with the sequel.

The Kissing Booth tells the story of Elle and Lee, two teens and best friends who share a birthday. They tell each other everything. Elle, then, starts dating Lee’s brother, and she struggles to find a way to tell him.

The film premiered on Netflix in May 2018, and it was a huge success for the streaming service. The movie is based on the book of the same name by Beth Reekes.

It would have been a big mistake (HUGE!) for Netflix to not make a sequel to The Kissing Booth. According to the ratings shared by Netflix, The Kissing Booth was one of the most popular movies of the summer, along with To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, which is also coming back for a sequel.

While Netflix didn’t say it specifically, it’s probably one of their most-watched original movies of all time. It’s probably not Bright or Bird Box in terms of hype and buzz around the release, but it’s pretty clear that people are still watching this movie.

Overall, the film did not get good reviews. Personally, I didn’t love this movie, but I respect Netflix’s decision to order a sequel to a super popular movie. It makes a ton of business sense.
