Stranger Things: Hopper’s story to be the focus of new novel

There’s another Stranger Things novel on the way, and it explores Chief Jim Hopper’s past.

One Stranger Things novel is already on sale and another is officially in the works. Netflix shared the news that a novel about Chief Jim Hopper is happening. We shared the announcement below.

According to the tweet, the novel will focus on Hopper’s past and all the secrets he’s hiding. At the end of Stranger Things 2, Hopper becomes Eleven’s official parent/guardian, and obviously, she wants to know more about his story. That’s the premise of the new book.

UPDATE: Adam Christopher confirmed he is the author of the book, and it will be called Darkness at the Edge of Town. Christopher confirmed the news on twitter, and it will be released on June 4!

We don’t know when to expect the new book, but I’m guessing it will be released sometime this year. We also don’t know the title yet, but it does say “Lights out in the city that never sleeps” on the cover. I’m assuming that’s not the title, and we’ll learn the official title at a later date.

This will be the second novel exploring the world created by the Duffer Brothers. Suspicious Minds, which dives into Eleven’s backstory and her mother’s place in the story, was released on Feb. 5. We highly recommend the novel to all fans of the series while waiting for the new season this summer.

Stranger Things is branching out into a variety of different media ventures. We’ve already seen the Stranger Things comics and informational, behind-the-scenes books. Gwenda Bond’s novel Suspicious Minds is available to purchase now.

I don’t know about you, but there’s so much of this story left to explore. I think these books are a great idea, and it could pave the way to more shows and movies from this world in the future. I know I want to know the origin story of the Hawkins Lab and everything associated with it.

We don’t know much about the book about Hopper yet. We’ll be sure to pass along all the details when we find out.
