The Dragon Prince season 2 promises bigger action, better animation and a host of surprises. Watch the new season on Feb. 15.

Netflix shared the trailer for The Dragon Prince season 2. There’s a baby dragon in the mix, along with new animation for the new season.

When the first season of The Dragon Prince arrived in September 2018 it was a pleasant surprise. From one of the creators of Avatar: The Last Airbender, Aaron Ehasz, the show provided a large adventure of warring factions and secret maneuvers to gain power while never quite losing its sense of fun.

The new season, coming Feb. 15, is a nine-episode follow-up with the characters, Callum (Jack De Sena), Rayla (Paula Burrows) and Ezran (Sasha Rojen) all learning to grow into themselves as they face a world on the verge of collapse. Their newly hatched friend the Dragon Prince, Zym, is along for the ride, as the only hope for peace.

Here is the new trailer:

One common complaint about the first season was the slower frame-rate of the animation, which at times could look a little choppy when in motion. The new trailer looks to have completely solved the issue, looking more gorgeous and fluid as ever.

The story looks even more epic, with monstrously huge dragons and great battle sequences. It also looks to keep the fun humor of the first season, with Ezran and Bait (his pet glow toad) sure to lead to some antics. It also looks to be delving into darker territory, as Callum is tempted by the allure of dark magic.

From the Netflix media center:

"The nine-episode second season follows Rayla, Callum and Ezran as they continue their adventure to Xadia. But the journey won’t be easy: every step of the way, they’ll be challenged by new foes and old friends alike. They’ll struggle with trust and betrayal, face down vicious dragons, and be tempted by the lure of dark magic, all while protecting the newly-hatched Dragon Prince, Zym."

It’s exciting to have The Dragon Prince back so soon, and looking so great. It will be one to watch for animation fans as its release quickly approaches.
