When The CW announced its renewals, all but two fall shows were included. All American was one of them and The CW has explained why that wasn’t the case. There is still a chance for the show thanks to Netflix.

All American was one of two fall shows not renewed by The CW. The other was Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, which was already confirmed as the final season. Many fans wanted to know why All American was the only fall show left out in the cold and The CW has now weighed in.

While many will immediately think the high school football drama will be canceled, that is not the case. The Millennial network is still to make a decision, especially since the live ratings are not the only metrics used to detemine the future of the show. If they were, Dynasty wouldn’t have been renewed.

Like all CW shows, All American will come to Netflix after it airs its season finale. The ratings from Netflix are considered by The CW and there’s hope that the show will pick up fans through this deal. CW entertainment boss, Mark Pedowitz, is certainly hopeful that the high school drama will pick up a following similar to the way Supernatural and Riverdale have benefitted from the Netflix deal, according to Deadline.

It’s no surprise that some people wait for the CW shows to go to Netflix before watching. Either they don’t get to watch live because parents watch other shows on other network or they’ve missed a few episodes and The CW app only keeps the most recent five to stream online. Fans don’t want to pay for single episodes when they know the show will be available on Netflix eight days after the season finale.

The great news for All American is that the show will be on the streaming service from March 31. A decision about the fate won’t be made now until May 2019. There’s time for fans to watch the show and make it clear this is one to watch.

Out of all the fall rookie shows, All American is watched the least in terms of the live ratings, according to TV Series Finale. However, it saw a big jump in the ratings between episodes 2 and 3. This isn’t common and it shows that there are fans out there. Once it comes to Netflix in the U.S., make sure you stream it if you want to save it.
