Lucifans from around the world got together in Brighton, UK, for LUX, the first ever Lucifer convention from Jan. 18-20.

Starfury Events announced back in Summer 2018 that they were hosting LUX, a convention solely for the show Lucifer, after it’s massive #SaveLucifer campaign helped it to get a new home with Netflix. Lucifans from all over the world jumped at the chance to attend and within hours of going live, many of the tickets had been brought.

Many of the show’s cast joined the event, including Tom Ellis, Lauren German, Kevin Alejandro, Lesley-Ann Brandt and D.B. Woodside. Lucifer’s Mother and Charlotte Richards actress Tricia Helfer and the show’s creators Joe Henderson and Ildy Modrovich were also there, along with Lee Garbett, the illustrator of the new Lucifer comics, and Alessandra Torresani.

Day 1 – Jan. 18

LUX kicks off with the opening ceremony of the convention as Starfury frontman, Sean Harry, introduces the guests to all the fans in attendance. Each guest gave a little speech before going back off for the next guest to be introduced. Kevin Alejandro made fans laugh when he turned to everyone and said that his name is “Detective Douche” not Dan and that he was ready to party before doing a mic drop and walking off of the stage once again.

Gold ticket holders then got to go and have a meet and greet with the guests where they talked and asked questions.

After the ceremony came the first of three evening parties. Fans danced away dressed under the theme of ‘suited and booted’ and Alejandro and Henderson came to the party with the fans.

Day 2 – Jan. 19

The convention started early on Saturday, Jan. 19. The morning started with photo sessions with the guests and fans which saw a wide variety of poses and scenarios get played out to be captured as permanent memories.

Panels kicked off at noon with the first guest Q&A being with Lucifer main man himself, Tom Ellis. Fans queued up to ask him a wide variety of questions from what his personal Hell would be to what was it like to kiss Tom Welling. Spoiler: Ellis enjoyed it more than welling did.

Ellis even treated fans to a song with his guitar and played Radiohead’s “Creep” before teasing that it may or may not be in season 4. Ellis especially made fans laugh. When he was told by Harry that he had only 5 minutes left for his panel from the balcony above the stage, Ellis simply looked up to him before putting on his Lucifer voice and responding with a “yes, dad.”

Next, there were planels for Modrovich and Henderson, followed by German and Alejandro before Helfer and Torresani.

Woodside and Brandt closed off the panels of the day with fans asking them about Maze and Amenadiel’s relationship in season 4, and Woodside even mentioned that he loved to work with Lauren but never got to.

The cosplay competition took place after the panels and before the evening session. This saw many fans dress as different characters, from Mazikeen’s cult followers to Pierce and Candy Morningstar and also The Sinnerman, who ultimately won the competition.

The evening of day 2 saw fans take on the theme of ‘sinners or saints’ and Ildy, Joe, Lesley and Kevin joined fans for the evening to dance.

Day 3 – Jan. 20

On the final day of the festival, photo sessions kicked off the morning session before a panel with  Torresani.

Woodside then followed on with the panels and told fans that he wants to see Lucifer confess his love to Chloe in a Lucifer sloppy way. He also mentioned that sibling Remiel will be in two episodes that will cover one day of events and that his favorite fight scene is that between Remiel and Amenadiel. There will also be lots of wings in season 4, according to Woodside on his panel.

Modrovich and Henderson then had another panel with Mike Costa joining them. Fans asked questions regarding what it took to become directors and screenplay writers. They also asked what Lucifer would wear in the celestial world. Ildy joked with the answer of a silver thong and roller skates. They also stated that when Lucifer calls Chloe “detective,” he is distancing himself emotionally from her, but when he calls her “Chloe,” he is taking down his barriers and allowing his feelings for her to show.

The final panel saw Deckerstar take to the stage with none other than the third wheel, Detective Douche (due to missing his alone panel earlier that day because he was signing autographs). Fans asked them a wide range of questions regarding Deckerstar and what it was like to work on set with each other.

Day 3 ended with a very emotional closing ceremony in which a majority of the guests and fans alike ended up in tears for all the efforts that had been made to save the show. Henderson commented that season 4 was for the fans, and Alejandro went on to add that there are 7 season regulars in the show but that Lucifans are the eighth and that he loves them.

Throughtout the two days of panels, fans also had the chance to get the guests autographs and also had the chance to have fan meets with them.

Harry finished everything off with a small message of thanks. He even went on to say that Lucifer began in the Vertigo comics before becoming the Devil that many love now. Ellis was prompt to interrupt him with the comment that he’d find Lucifer began in the bible.

Tickets for LUX 2 went on sale during the events of day 2. By Monday, Jan. 21, all Gold tickets had been sold out but there are still regular tickets left. If you are a Lucifan and unfortunately missed the first LUX, go and get your tickets for next year now.

The entire convention was an event that I will hold dear for many years to come. The guests were wonderful to meet and talk with (and party with!) and I would do it all again in a heartbeat.
