The Punisher season 2 expected to premiere on Netflix in March

Will The Punisher season 2 lead of the 2019 Marvel slate? Can we safely assume it will not arrive in 2018 after the Netflix Q2 earnings report?

During the Netflix Q2 earnings report the marquee new releases for the second half of 2018 were announced by Ted Sarandos. Daredevil season 3 was one such show, a huge surprise considering it wasn’t expected until 2019.

Initially, there were only going to be three Marvel shows premiering this year with Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. But with Daredevil coming back in 2018, that most assuredly means the one remaining Marvel-Netflix show, The Punisher will not return until 2019, as has long been anticipated.

Filming is currently underway in New York for The Punisher and there are plenty of casting announcements that have yet to be announced, so there’s further confirmation that fans will have to wait until the year rolls over to see what’s next for Frank Castle, Karen Page, Billy Russo and the rest of the characters from The Punisher.

Even if it was ready in 2018, waiting the following year is perfect so it doesn’t take away from Iron Fist and Daredevil seasons later this fall. Kicking off the Marvel slate with a non-The Defenders character series is ideal.

This is a nice change of pace because sometimes you could have too much of a good thing, would then lead on nicely to Jessica Jones season 3, which is due for a 2019 release, getting us then back onto The Defenders.

An anticipated release date for The Punisher season 2 is early in 2019, most likely in March where Daredevil’s first two seasons, Jessica Jones season 2 and Iron Fist season 1 premiered. Circle the first Friday in March on your calendar for the release, but stay tuned for more developments about The Punisher as the year goes on.
